As one might expect, I have Thoughts about it. Most of them are fairly trivial, but there's a big issue that's bothering me.

Where the hell is the First Order getting their funding from?

It made sense that the Empire could build a moon-sized planet-killer weapon. They were the Empire. They ruled the entire galaxy, and had a galaxy's worth of money and resources to draw upon. But the First Order is supposed to be working against the official galactic government. By all rights, the Resistance should be the ones with all the manpower and resources and the First Order should be scrambling for anything they could get. And yet the First Order not only has a massive, highly regimented army, but they managed to build a more powerful weapon than either Death Star, one that burns out an entire sun every time it's used (which seems like a pretty effective way to kill off everyone on the orbiting planets, but I guess that's less cinematic than a giant death laser).

Who footed the bill for the Starkiller Base? Will this become a plot point later in the trilogy? Or is it just lazy writing to try and reestablish the dynamic from Episode IV?
