So I finally got done watching a playthrough of Half-Life: Alyx. (Can't play it myself since I have neither the space nor the budget for a VR rig.)

I may have some more coherent thoughts about it later, but for now all I can say is "Valve, you FUCKERS."

So I just saw The Lego Movie 2: the Second Part this afternoon. I re-watched the first movie just before, and it holds up beautifully; I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. The sequel is a very different kind of movie, but just as much fun, and the two films slot together perfectly, as one would expect for a movie about construction toys.

I'm contemplating making a roleplay journal for Sans the Skeleton from Undertale.

Pros: He's an interesting and well developed character. He shares my love of godawful puns. I could deal with some common fanons about him that I personally disagree with.

Cons: He clearly suffers from depression, and I deal with that enough in real life without wanting to revisit it in fiction. I'd have to decide which timeline he's coming in from and that would be a pain in the ass.

As one might expect, I have Thoughts about it. Most of them are fairly trivial, but there's a big issue that's bothering me.

Spoiler cut in case I wasn't actually the last person to see this mofo )

I’m thinking I want to write an essay about the metanarrative of Undertale and how it shows off the way stories are told in games as opposed to other, strictly linear forms of media. Possibly it will involve comparing and contrasting Undertale with The Stanley Parable. If anyone can think of other games that play with narrative that way, I’m open to suggestions.

Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random.

Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

My seven questions, from [personal profile] minkhollow:

1) What pulled you into My Little Pony? )
2) Anything you're looking forward to doing after the Milliways move? )
3) What's your dream job? )
4) If you could live anywhere you wanted, where would it be? Why? )
5) Unpopular Fandom Opinion from the fandom of your choice? )
6) All-time favorite movie? Why? )
7) If given the choice, are you a pets-having kind of person? Why or why not? )

This installment of Thinking Too Much is about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. But only in part. More generally, I want to talk about certain challenges unique to serial fiction, particularly in the Internet age.

As before, opinions expressed herein are my own, and I don't claim to be an expert on anything spoken about below. If you disagree with anything I've written, or just want to discuss it further, feel free to comment and put your two cents in.

Cut for length, multimedia, and minor MLP spoilers )
